The on-line and print versions of the Berea College Faculty Manual are updated annually. The printed Faculty Manual published by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty is the official version of the document. The on-line version is made available for convenience purposes only.

Preface

This publication, distributed to members of the faculty and General Faculty Assembly, provides information about a variety of professional, academic, and institutional matters. It also brings together in one place a number of important statements of institutional policy, including the Personnel Policies for Faculty. The Personnel Policies explain procedures for appointment, promotion, evaluation, and tenure, and seek to define the relationship between the individual member of the teaching staff and the rest of the College.

It is hoped that this document will help to orient those new to the College and serve as a continuing source of useful information for others. The Manual will be updated from time to time, and new pages supplied as policies change or new sections are added.
