Berea’s
scenic campus is surrounded by the working studios of some of the
finest artists and craftspeople in Kentucky. Known as the Crafts
Capital of Kentucky, the city of Berea holds annual crafts fairs
and festivals, hosts the Kentucky Artisan Center and supports a
vibrant artists’ community in the restored historic Old Town
district.
The area is also close to the natural wonders of the foothills
of the Appalachian Mountains, including the Red River Gorge,
Natural Bridge and Cumberland Falls. For guests who want to get
a taste of horse country, a short drive to Lexington allows for
visits to Kentucky Horse Park, Keeneland’s Race Track and
various horse farms.
For those visitors who prefer to find recreation
on campus, the College offers the Seabury Center gymnasium with
state-of-the-art
equipment and an indoor pool, a planetarium in the Hall Science
Building, the Dmitrie Berea Art Gallery and other galleries,
Hutchins Library, the Corner Pocket Game Room in the Alumni Building,
and occasional plays, musical concerts and other special events
either performed by Berea students or professional artists. Visit
