On-Campus Employment

On-Campus employment performed for the school as required by scholarship is permitted. F-1 students who are maintaining full time student status may engage in on-campus employment.

Employment is limited to NO MORE THAN 20 HOURS PER WEEK while school is in session. Students may work full-time during vacation periods as long as they have maintained status and have registered for the following academic term.

Curricular Practical Training (CPT)

CPT employment is available to F-1 students who have been lawfully enrolled full time for at least nine consecutive months.

To be considered for CPT authorization, the work must be an integral part of the established curriculum. CPT may be part or full time. Employment for 20 hours or less per week is considered part-time; more than 20 hours per week is considered full-time CPT. Students should be aware that they would not be eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT) if they accumulate 12 months of full-time CPT. Participation in part-time CPT does not affect eligibility for Optional Practical Training. Please see the CPT checklist (Acrobat format) for procedures.

The Office of Internships has listings of current opportunities and procedures for part or full time work experience.

Please see the International Student and Scholar Adviser for more details.
