People Who Care (PWC) Program
Mission Statement
People Who Care is a student led organization which addresses a broad range of local and global issues. We connect students to organizations and opportunities to promote change through advocacy, education, action, and direct service in our community. Our goal is to help students make compassion a part of their everyday life in a way that works best for them.
About the Program
People who care (PWC) was established in 1968 by a group of student volunteers who felt a need to serve some of the less fortunate members of our community.
Since then it has become a program that serves in many different ways whether it be getting students together to volunteer with local community events or visiting a children’s Hospital.
PWC is staffed by two to four student coordinators who do general office duties and coordinate the group’s events. The volunteers are composed entirely of students, both freshmen and upperclassmen. All students are encouraged to participate.
For more information, please contact Lillian Belanger, the program coordinator at
or at the PWC office at 985-3136. If no answer, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
How to get involved
Please contact us at to learn more. If you have ideas about a project or just want to help out, let us know. There are no fees, applications, or obligations to attend every outing (though we do appreciate regular volunteers). All one needs is a caring heart along with a will to serve those with special needs.
