Bonner
Scholars are selected based upon their scholarship, service activities,
and financial need. The Program is interested in selecting students
who have a desire to participate in service work throughout their
careers at Berea College. The Admissions counselors screen applications
as the come in and send information/application packets to candidates
who meet the selection criteria. Each year fifteen freshmen are
selected to be Bonner Scholars. Their labor position is with the
Bonner Program. (See current
program descriptions.)
The Advisory Board makes the final selection of students based
on the following criteria:
- Has been admitted to Berea College
- Has demonstrated significant community service at school, church,
or in the home community;
- Has demonstrated a commitment to making connections between
service interests and initiatives and academic life.
