Minor in Health
A Health minor provides students who are pursuing a liberal-arts education with an opportunity to engage in a process of understanding how the health and wellness of an individual can support their capacity to succeed in any chosen field and can complement the knowledge attained from their major.
Requirements for the Minor
The minor in Health requires a minimum of five (5) courses, as follows:
Required Core Courses
HLT 109, HLT 215, CFS 221, and PEH 100
PEH 100 is a General Education requirement and does not count as earned credit in the minor.
Required Distribution Courses
One (1) course chosen from HLT 111, 210, 224, or 318; and one (1) additional full-credit HLT course.
PEH 221 and 222 do not count toward the minor.
Admission to the Minor
An interview with members of the Health faculty in the Department, as well as a departmental recommendation, are required for admission to the Health minor.
Additional Considerations for the Health Minor
Designated Short Term HLT courses may be used for the minor. A grade of C (2.0 GPA) or higher in each required Health minor course and in each prerequisite and collateral course is required for continuation in the minor. Students not receiving a grade of C or higher may repeat that particular course to raise the grade while remaining in the minor program.
