B.S. Degree with a Major
in Technology and Industrial Arts: Industrial Technology Management
The Industrial Technology Management degree prepares the student for a variety of management-related positions in a wide range of career fields. This program is designed to give the student a strong background in production, communications, and power/energy technologies, combined with a study of management strategies and procedures. Students completing this program may pursue careers that include production management, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, design engineering, quality control, architecture, graphic design, sustainable development and a wide range of related positions.
A major in Technology and Industrial Arts: Industrial Technology Management is achieved by the completion of the following requirements, in addition to the General Education and electives required for a degree:
Required Core Courses—TEC 110, 111, 130, 140, 180, 250, 265, 275, and 392 (noncredit; two terms required).
Required Capstone Course—TEC 489
Required Distribution Courses—One (1) advanced course, chosen from TEC 330, 340, 352, 382, 455, 460, 470, or Short Term courses approved by the Department; plus two (2) additional courses, chosen from: PHY 217, ART 110, 123, 125, CHM 101, CHM 131 or 134, CSC 125, other TEC courses
Required Collateral Courses—MAT 105 or 115 (or waived). In addition, three (3) of the following BUS and ECO courses: BUS 120, 240, 315, 345, 363, 364, ECO 101 or 102, and 250
Exploring the Major—Students with interests such as education, engineering, architecture, or other special areas relating to technology should consult with a faculty member in the Department.
Admission to the Major—No additional or special curricular requirements must be met for admission to this major.
Course Sequencing Considerations (in order to complete degree requirements within eight terms)—It is highly preferred that students considering this major take TEC 110 and 111 in the first and/or sophomore years.
Proficiency Requirements for Retention in and Completion of the Major—In addition to completing specified course requirements, each student must satisfy departmental standards for written and oral communication.
Other Considerations or Recommendations—Only two additional courses are required to earn the Business Administration minor at Berea. Please see the Economics and Business Department’s section of the Catalog for minor requirements.
