Career Development’s Cornell Weekend a Success
By Leigh Moberly
Cold and snowy weather did not keep Berea College’s finest
from attending Cornell Weekend, February 16th and 17th. Students
from all majors were dressed to impress and anxious to have Cornell
alumni and current MBA students review resumes and participate
in mock interviews.
The event kicked off with a presentation
by Cornell’s Johnson School of Business alumni, who came
from all over the US to continue Cornell’s fourth year at
Berea. Joe Bridy, originator of Cornell Weekend and now
with Hamlin Capital Management, along with four other Cornell MBA
alumni gave an overview on resume writing, interview skills, and
networking. They also showed students what not to do in
an interview because of past experience as interviewees.
On Saturday, Cornell alumni were joined by current MBA students to review resumes and critique mock interviews. Students found the sessions extremely helpful. Cornell’s presence at Berea College provided participants not only enrichment of resumes and interview skills, but a network of nine successful business men and women. Cornell alumni and Berea students indicated the weekend was very successful, and all participants were very pleased.
