About the Department

The Campus Christian Center (CCC), sometimes also known as Campus Ministry, serves the larger educational mission of Berea College. The Center offers many opportunities for worship, weekly prayer, devotional study of Christian scripture, interfaith conversations and events, and intellectual and spiritual engagement with the Christian faith through convocations, lectureships, workshops, and occasional spiritual retreats.

In addition, the department offers a number of other services to students and staff with various kinds of needs. The three professional College Chaplains of the CCC also offer pastoral counseling for all members of the College community. In addition, the CCC supervises a corps of Student Chaplains, who live and minister in the residence halls on campus. Several student Christian organizations also exist on campus, which also aid the spiritual growth of students.

The CCC offers various forms of support to these student Christian organizations through their participation in the Campus Christian Council.  In addition, the CCC has formed the Interfaith Council, in order to promote dialogue and education on campus about the many other religious traditions.
