About the BuildingRustic Cottage is the only wood structure left on campus. It was built in 1901. Over the years it has served many functions including: as various administrative offices, as a classroom, as the admissions office, as the college post office, as home to Fireside Industries, as a residence, as a doctor¹s and dentist¹s office, as a home to Upward Bound, as faculty offices, and as the office for the Council of the Southern Mountains. Former President Frost designed the building and deliberately gave it a blending of Classical and mountain influences. |
