Baptist Campus Ministry
Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) exists to support and enhance the spiritual growth of Christian students on college and university campuses. Local Baptist Churches and the Kentucky Baptist Convention sponsor the Baptist Campus Ministry at Berea College.
BCM has a home behind Berea Baptist Church, at 310 Chestnut Street, in a building called “The Basin.” The Basin includes the BCM Campus Minister’s office, a lounge for meetings, and a kitchen. Students may contact the Baptist Campus Minister, Rev. Kimberly Moynahan, at the following telephone number: 859-986-3886.
BCM welcomes all students, regardless of their denominational affiliation. Students become members of BCM simply by participation. The BCM focuses on sharing Jesus Christ. The Council of the BCM holds responsibility for all ministries and activities, with direction from the full-time BCM Campus Minister. The Council meets weekly to pray and plan for the work of BCM, thereby keeping students central in the organization. The BCM also participates as a member of the Campus Christian Council at Berea College, which requires official recognition by the College as a student organization.
BCM provides various opportunities for spiritual growth and outreach: worship, Bible studies, devotions during lunches, conferences, mission service, fun, drama, music and more. The BCM’s major gathering, Connect, occurs each week at 8:15 p.m. Connect begins with snacks in the BCM Basin. The gathering continues across the parking lot at 8:30 p.m. in Berea Baptist Church. For information about other events, please contact Kimberly Moynahan, the BCM Campus Minister.
