Mastering the Art of the Personal Ask
|Early Bird Session Leader: Lee Ellen MartinIn this session, you will learn how to ask for a gift. You will learn how to build the relationship with the donor, when to make the ask, how to make the ask, and how to overcome objections.You will also have an opportunity to practice making an ask with other participants and learn fun techniques to help in making connections with your donors.
This session will be a practical guide for volunteers, staff members or a combination of both! Staff and volunteers both have a responsibility to be asking for gifts and this session will help prepare them individually and as a team to do just that!

|Lee Ellen Martin is a 25-year veteran of fundraising. She is the Executive Director of the Explorium of Lexington and also works as a fundraising consultant. She has previously worked with the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Hospice of the Bluegrass and United Way of the Bluegrass. In her development consultant work, she works with several clients in the areas of campaign coordination, development audits and plans, and training.Lee Ellen holds the rank of Certified Fund Raising Executive, which is an independent credentialing agency for development professionals. She has served on several community boards and volunteers at her children’s schools and at church.
