Track Leader: Steve Kay
This workshop provides practical ways for those with leadership responsibilities to deal more effectively with both the ordinary and the challenging communication situtions commonly associated with the leadership role.
Participants learn a model of comunication and a practical framework for analyzing their present communciation strategies. Using examples drawn from media and from real-life experience, participants develop understanding of a wider range of communication options available to them, and a clearer understanding of when and how to employ them. This approach increases the likelihood that the communication strategies chosen will translate into good relationships that make present and future communication more likely to be effective.
The workshop aims to equip each participant with a set of individually tailored communication strategies, the use of which will result in continuously improved communication with the individuals and groups whose work they lead.

|Steve Kay is a founding partner in the consulting firm Roberts & Kay, Inc., based in Lexington, Kentucky. He has more than 30 years of experience in group facilitation and in the design and implementation of effective group process. That work includes creating plans and establishing systems to increase group work and organizational effectiveness, analyzing complex, long-term change efforts in organizations and communities, facilitating multi-party groups, and training leaders, managers and coaches in effective communication using the Authentic Partnership model.Steve’s current and recent clients include Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, the University of Kentucky, Mountain Association for Community and Economic Development (MACED), and Kentucky Voices for Health. In 2010 Steve was elected to the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council as an at-large member.
