Diversity Peer Education Team (DPET)
The DPET is a team of students trained in diversity education. These students make it their mission to educate the campus community about issues concerning race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and discrimination.
Women of African Diaspora
Host programs to discuss the issues the Black women face on campus, in our campus community, and around the world. Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to attend. Participants should RSVP to the Black Cultural Center.
Black
Student Union (BSU)
BSU serves as a welcoming leadership body for African American students.
The students of BSU plan and coordinate educational, cultural, and
social events for the benefit of all Berea College students. Membership
(dues are $5.00) is open to all students interested in promoting
the purpose of the organization.
Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. Committee
The Committee plans and coordinates all the activities for the
MLK celebration. It is open to all students, faculty, and staff.
Intercultural
Understanding and Awareness
This group meets monthly to gain greater
cultural awareness and understanding. Meetings
are usually held in the Black Cultural Center.
Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH)
Founded by Berea College Alum Carter G. Woodson’s, ASALH is seeks to promote, research, preserve, interpret and disseminate information about Black life, history and culture to the global community.
The Arts Collective is currently forming to
develop student performance skills. Students who are interested
in spoken word, writing, acting,
music, and other performance arts are encouraged to join.
The Black Cultural Center - Advisory
Committee is comprised of
Faculty, Staff, and Students and serves as a group of advisors
on issues related to the BCC. The committee meets at least twice
a semester and helps to promote the success of African Americans
at Berea College.
