Common Areas

Common AreasSpacious and comfortable with high ceilings and great views, lounges throughout the new residence hall offer both active areas and quieter locations for study.

Each floor includes a student lounge, or “living room”, and coffee bar along with additional study lounges and a private study room. These spaces in the center of the building look out to the Berea College Forest (on the south) and Anna Smith Hall to the north.

Common areas feature a 100% recycled ceramic tile floor, highlighted by clear-finished tulip poplar baseboards, wainscoting and ceilings. Wood used to make the tables and other lounge furniture, much of it red oak and maple, came from trees removed on the building site and the school’s forest. The main guest lounge on the first floor also contains several niches to display Berea student artwork and crafts.
