Assistant Track and Field Coach, Assistant Cross Country Coach

Shawn has been with the Berea College Cross Country and Track programs since 2008 when he started as a volunteer assistant coach. While at Berea Shawn has assisted Head Cross Country Coach Mike Johnson and Head Track and Field Coach Dan Bryant coach 28 men and women individual National Qualifiers as well as 7 men and women’s KIAC team championships. Berea College Men’s Cross Country has also placed in the top 30 the past two seasons at the NAIA National Cross Country Championships.
Still being a competitive runner, Shawn brings first hand experience of what it takes to excel at the sport. “Being a runner I feel like I can relate to the athletes better, not to long ago I was in their shoes.” Shawn was a member of the current school record holding 4x800m relay team. That team finished 5th at nationals earning Shawn first team All-American honors.

Shawn is finishing up his Masters in Sports Administration at EKU. He currently lives in Sandgap, Ky with his wife Laurie and son Hayden.
