Biography

Kirby Overman will begin his fourth season as assistant basketball coach at Berea College in 2011-12 after helping the Mountaineers to a 53-36 overall record in the previous two seasons.

In 1973, the Carthage, Indiana native led his New Albany High School team to the Indiana High School Boys’ State Championship. He also coached the Indiana All-Stars as an assistant coach in 1973 and was selected head coach in the 1974 Indiana-Kentucky All-Star series. Overman has directed basketball camps all over the United States and in 1991 coached in Taiwan as part of the Harlem Globetrotters traveling tour.

In 1999, Overman also led Seabring High School in Seabring, Florida, to a runner-up finish in the Florida 4A State Tournament. Overman and his wife, Babette, are the parents of one son, Jay (27), and currently reside in Lancaster.
