Sarah Resnick ’11, who has spent the last eighteen months teaching English in Japan
through the JET Program, has been accepted by the M.A. program in International Education Management offered at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS).  MIIS is among the most prestigious language and international policy studies schools in the United States.  Congratulations, Sarah!

who will join the faculty in Art History beginning in August 2013.  Dr. Elston previously served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History at Rollins College.  A specialist in medieval and Renaissance Christian art and architecture, Dr. Elson also plans to offer cross-listed courses on Buddhist art and East Asian art history at Berea.

highly competitive Japan Exchange NoahWhiteJapan2012and Teaching (JET) Program! Since 1987, nearly five thousand college and university graduates from all around the world have taught their native languages in Japan through the JET Program, which is administered by the Japanese government in cooperation with 38 other national governments.  This August, Noah will join more than 2,600 Americans (including several Berea College graduates) who have successfully competed for positions in Japanese schools with JET.

Richey’s book, Confucius in East Asia: Confucianism’s History in China, Korea, Japan, and Viet Nam recently was published in the Association for Asian Studies’ Key Issues in Asian Studies series.  The book, which is intended primarily for high school and college students, introduces fundamental patterns of East Asian history, spirituality, society, and politics through the lens of Confucianism’s development and impact in the region.
