through the <a href="http://www.us.emb-japan.go.jp/JET/">JET Program</a>, has been accepted by the <a href="http://www.miis.edu/academics/programs/education-management">M.A. program in International Education Management</a> offered at the <a href="http://www.miis.edu/">Monterey Institute of International Studies</a> (MIIS).  MIIS is among the most prestigious language and international policy studies schools in the United States.  Congratulations, Sarah!</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the 2012-13 academic year draws to a close, three <a href="http://webapps.berea.edu/cataloghandbook/dpc/ast-bamast.asp">Asian Studies majors</a> now studying in Japan soon will return to campus: Fatima King ’14 (currently at <a href="http://www.kansaigaidai.ac.jp/asp/">Kansai Gaidai University</a>),  Sharon Lee ’14 (also currently at <a href="http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/english/index.php">Kyushu University</a>), and Amber Welch ’15 (also currently at <a href="http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/english/index.php">Kyushu University</a>).  This summer and fall, three more <a href="http://webapps.berea.edu/cataloghandbook/dpc/ast-bamast.asp">Asian Studies majors</a> will journey to Japan: Kate Durland ’13 (with the <a href="http://www.kiis.org/go/Japan.php">KIIS Japan summer program</a>), Katie Fawley ’15 (fall term at <a href="http://www.kansaigaidai.ac.jp/asp/">Kansai Gaidai University</a>), and Hunter Kennoy ’15 (academic year at <a href="http://www.kyushu-u.ac.jp/english/index.php">Kyushu University</a>).  The <a href="http://www.berea.edu/ast/">Asian Studies Program</a> is proud of these students and grateful for the invaluable assistance provided to them by our campus’ <a href="http://www.berea.edu/cie/">Center for International Education</a>.</p>

who will join the faculty in Art History beginning in August 2013.  Dr. Elston previously served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History at <a href="http://www.rollins.edu/">Rollins College</a>.  A specialist in <a href="http://www.rsa.org/blogpost/851069/142841/Creating-Contact-Intersections-of-Relics-Ritual-Ceremonies-and-Miraculous-Spectacles?hhSearchTerms=elston&amp;terms=">medieval and Renaissance Christian art and architecture</a>, Dr. Elson also plans to offer cross-listed courses on Buddhist art and East Asian art history at Berea.</p>
