				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Asian Studies Program congratulates <a href="../faculty-and-staff/gordon-gray/">Dr. Gordon Gray</a> on his acceptance into the ASIANetwork Faculty Enhancement Program (ANFEP) <a href="http://www.asianetwork.org/2012/07/anfep-summer-2013-vietnam-seminar-overview-and-application/">Summer 2013 Seminar on Vietnam</a>!  Along with seven other professors from other liberal arts colleges and universities, Dr. Gray will spend three weeks in Vietnam intensively learning about the country from experts and local leaders, visits to cultural and historical sites, and research projects guided by Seminar Leader <a href="http://www.hws.edu/news/experts/displayexpert.asp?expertid=25">Dr. Jack Harris</a>.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jane Tonello &#8217;11 has been accepted as a graduate student by <a href="http://www.sls.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/">Kyushu University&#8217;s System</a><a href="http://www.berea.edu/ast/files/2012/07/20120613-janetonello.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-137" title="20120613-janetonello" src="http://www.berea.edu/ast/files/2012/07/20120613-janetonello.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="141" /></a><a href="http://www.sls.kyushu-u.ac.jp/en/"> Life Sciences Program </a>in <a href="http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2161.html">Fukuoka</a>, Japan.  Jane is one of only two students who have been admitted into this program as part of the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="http://www.uni.international.mext.go.jp/">Global 30</a>&#8221; initiative, which aims to promote the globalization of higher education in Japan by recruiting foreign students to study at Japanese universities.  Over the next five years, Jane will complete her graduate studies in bio-engineering, culminating in a Ph.D. in the field.</p>
