Vera Marinova ’06 Now Assistant Director of Indiana U.’s Global Village
Vera Marinova ’06, who served as Visiting Instructor of Chinese at Berea in 2012-13, now serves as Assistant Director of Global Village, a living-learning community at Indiana University (IU). Global Village combines on-campus housing with multinational, multicultural, multilingual, and multidisciplinary coursework for a select group of IU students with international interests. Vera’s work also entails coordinating Books & Beyond, a non-profit service-learning project that seeks to prepare globally-minded students for life in the 21st century by increasing critical literacy skills, addressing the Rwandan “book famine,” and developing models for cross-cultural teaching and learning. Vera, who completed multiple graduate degrees at IU between her career as a Berea student and her year as a Berea professor, is excited about teaching and learning at her second alma mater. Congratulations, Vera! Gongxi gongxi, Ma Laoshi!
