The Red Foley Memorial Music Award

Red FoleyIn 1970, Berea College established the Red Foley Memorial Music Award.  Initiated by Ely. E.Siman, Jr., (Navy V-12, ’44), Foley’s long-time friend and manager, the annual award is presented to talented Berea College students in recognition of their musical contributions to the social life of the campus community.  This award is intended to assist the recipient in a professional music career, if he or she so desires, and to promote the kind of music associated with Red Foley’s career, such as folk, country, bluegrass, gospel, and popular music.

The Red Foley Memorial Award is presented at the Student Service Awards Banquet, held each spring.  A cash award and certificate will be given to the student winner(s).
