This talk will be about the history of seed saving in Appalachia and how the food plants of the region are continuing to be grown and utilized, not only in the region, but increasingly throughout the country and many other countries as well. The talk will also be about how the people of the region foster a culture of seed saving. Best will also speculate about the future of seed saving in the region given the power and influence of the multinational giants in the food, feed, seed, and chemical industries.
