Ashley Lawrence

Ashley Lawrence is a senior art education major from Clinton, Tennessee. Her labor position has been with the Appalachian Center since her freshman year, first working with Appalachian
Heritage and now with programming. She is a passionate visual artist with a concentration in painting, and she has won several awards for her artwork through art shows. Ashley will graduate in December 2008 with teacher certification and plans to teach art at the secondary level somewhere in the southeastern United States.
Samantha Cole

Samantha Cole is from Beattyville, Kentucky. January 2008 marks her first time working with Appalachian
Heritage, something she hopes to continue throughout her college career. Samantha plans on pursuing a degree in Appalachian Studies before going on to pursue one of her many interests. Although she has yet to decide upon her post-graduation plans, she hopes to one day return to her home in the mountains to continue doing one of the things she loves best: writing.
Rebecca Tucker
Student Secretary, Brushy Fork Institute

Rebecca Tucker of Somerset, Kentucky, has been working with the Brushy Fork Institute since January 2007. While she views her secretarial work as only a small contribution, she enjoys being part of such a dynamic organization. As an economics major she hopes to one day apply her knowledge in the nonprofit world. When she's not busy with classes, she enjoys playing soccer, playing ultimate Frisbee, and having fun with friends.
Juli Sloan

Juli Sloan has been working as a student assistant with Appalachian
Heritage since fall 2005. She is excited about the head start on her career that she has received by working for the magazine and appreciates the familiarity she has gained with the region. After her graduation in spring 2008, she aspires to continue a career in editing. Her long-term goals are to one day own a used bookstore.
Stephanie Housh

Stephanie Housh has been working as a student secretary for Brushy Fork since spring 2006. Following graduation, she looks forward to spending a few years working in the nursing field before seeking a master’s degree in physical therapy.
Michael Adams
Student Editorial Assistant, Appalachian Heritage
Class: 2008
Michael Adams, a Kentucky native, is a senior English major with a concentration in literature at Berea College. During the regular year, he works as a peer consultant at the college’s Learning Center. He is a member of Berea’s Vincit Qui Patitur honor society and a 2006 recipient of the Dr. William Taylor Center Memorial Award for writing. Michael is a poet who, after graduation, would like to write and teach, preferably at the college level.
Jonathan Adams

Jonathon Adams has been working in the Artifacts and Exhibits Studio since fall 2007. His job as a student designer and curator allows him to help create and manage exhibits at the college and in the surrounding area. Jonathon enjoys being involved with the Appalachian Center and likes the creative aspects that his job provides.
Michael Cox

Michael Cox is the student research assistant for the Entrepreneurship for the Public Good offices. He is responsible for assisting the new chairs in the EPG department with projects and planning research. He is a political science major and German minor who looks forward to the coming summer abroad.
Evan Robinson
Student Curatorial Assistant, Artifacts and Exhibits Studio

Evan Robinson is a senior history major and German minor. This marks his first year working with the Artifacts and Exhibits Studio. His other labor position is with the college’s Special Collections and Archives, where he has served as a student worker for three years. After graduation, Evan hopes to go to school in South Carolina and continue his history studies, with hopes of becoming either a sports historian or a museum curator. He enjoys watching, playing, and coaching soccer, and is an avid fan of the Tottenham Hotspur FC of the English Premier League.
Kit Cottrell

Kit Cottrell has been with the Appalachian Center since spring 2006. Her job as student editorial assistant entails updating the news section of the center’s webpage, a task that allows her to employ her skills as an English major with an emphasis in writing. Kit finds the work rewarding and fulfilling, and she loves that her labor position allows her to be so involved with an area close to her heart—Appalachia!
Beth Bissmeyer

Beth Bissmeyer, of Louisville, Kentucky, is an English major, with a minor in Appalachian Studies. She has been working as a student editorial assistant for Appalachian Heritage since fall 2007. She is working on forming a new student organization, Bereans for Appalachia, and is also an active member of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. While she is not quite sure what she will do after graduation, Beth hopes to go to graduate school and to, eventually, work for a nonprofit organization.
Miranda Behn Robinson

Miranda Behn Robinson has been working for the Artifacts and Exhibits Studio in the Appalachian Center since spring 2007. She is a junior history major and an Appalachian Studies minor. After graduating from Berea College she plans to go to graduate school to study film history in hopes of becoming a film historian. Miranda enjoys playing soccer, watching the English premiership soccer league, and coaching the youth of the Madison United Soccer Association. She hopes to one day be the first female coach of an English premier team.
Rosanna Green
Student Program Manager, Entrepreneurship for the Public Good
Class: 2008
A sociology major and Peace & Social Justice minor from Morenci, Michigan, Rozee enjoys hiking, bicycling, traveling, playing and listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. Following graduation in May 2008, she plans on getting married, moving to New Orleans, and joining the Peace Corps the following year. In between graduation and the Peace Corps she plans on doing work with coastal restoration in southern Louisiana. She has been working in the EPG office since February 2006 and currently serves as the student program manager. Rozee loves the people and atmosphere of the EPG office and is glad to have spent most of her student labor time there.
Samantha Stolt
Student Events Planning Assistant, Entrepreneurship for the Public Good

Hailing from Sparta, North Carolina, Sam works as the events planning assistant for EPG. An ambitious business management major and 2005-2006 EPG Fellow, Sam interned at the Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga in Blacksburg, Virginia. Though she plans to eventually attend massage school (for a hobby, not a profession), her immediate plans are to work for a few years after graduation before attending graduate school to earn a master’s degree in human resource management. Sam enjoys running, horseback riding, and knitting.
