Young Alumni Program

Purpose

Berea College is pleased to announce the formation of the Young Alumni Program. This program is specifically for alumni, graduates and non-graduates, who parted Berea College as a student within the last ten years. We aspire to create a greater sense of community for our alumni once they have ventured away from Berea’s campus. We hope to increase our young alumni participation in all alumni events of the college including chapter meetings, Homecoming, and regional young alumni events. Finally, we aspire to have our young alumni realize the value and importance of giving of their resources to help improve and continue the mission of their alma mater.

Young Alumni leadership is critical to the continued success of Berea. The Young Alumni Advisory Council’s (YAAC) goal is to cultivate the next generation of leadership and to promote a greater role for young alumni volunteers within the Berea College community. Furthermore, the YAAC seeks to promote giving among young alumni through members’ own contributions to the Berea Fund and by asking their peers to do likewise. The YAAC will also host regional events to foster the idea of staying connected and giving back to Berea College in so many different ways, including their time and talents.

Throughout the next year, the Young Alumni Program will host regional events, a tailgate party at Homecoming, and hope to develop networking and career service events.

We are also working to improve our overall alumni website and hope to develop a young alumni website soon. Some good news from last year: 9.8% of Berea’s young alumni gave a gift to the Berea Fund. This is the highest total since we have recorded this statistic. We thank you for your generosity and your pride in Berea College. This year’s goal is 13%. Please consider a gift to the Berea Fund today and help in “Extending Berea’s Legacy.”
