The
Interview Process
A scheduled personal interview with a Berea College Admissions Counselor is an important feature of the freshman application process. The interview is designed to achieve two things— for us to learn more about each applicant and for each applicant to discover who we are at Berea. Many students who have interviewed with us in the past report that the interview is really more like a conversation with one of our admissions counselors. Students also say that they appreciate having the opportunity to tell us why they want to attend Berea and why we should consider them strong candidates for admission. Very few colleges require that applicants participate in an interview but, then again, very few colleges must choose only the best 25 percent of applicants for admission and a four-year tuition scholarship. In spite of what is at stake, most students find the interview enjoyable.
To help you meet this application requirement, we offer several options for visiting campus during the week. We have also set aside select Saturdays throughout the year to welcome interviewees and their families. We encourage you to make your reservation as early as possible, since spaces are limited.
We strongly encourage applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for admission to Berea to visit campus for their interview. If a visit to campus would be challenging due to travel distances of more than a few hours, please call us to discuss possible alternate interview options.
We look forward to having you as our guests on campus very soon!
