Applying for Admission: New Freshmen

Applications from freshman applicants are currently being considered for the Fall 2009 Term. Qualified students are encouraged to apply online, download an application, or request a paper application be mailed to them.

To be considered by our Admissions Decision Team, you must submit all required components of the application process, including:

• A completed "Application for Admission and Scholarship" form
• An interview
• Your written response to one of two essay options
• Financial information in the form of FAFSA results (preferred) or submission of Berea College's Family Resource Questionnaire (FRQ), which may serve as a tentative means for determining the likelihood of financial eligibility.

For students applying for Fall 2009, the online FRQ may be submitted starting June 1, 2008 and prior to March 1, 2009 as a tentative indication of financial eligibility. After March 1, students must submit 2009-2010 FAFSA.

• Official high school transcript
• Official ACT or SAT I scores
• Guidance Counselor Evaluation
• Two Recommendations (online form or PDF), each from a former teacher, principal, or other school administrator (unless applicant has not recently been enrolled, in which case, recommendations from professionals in non-educational fields and/or other community leaders will be accepted)

Fall Admission

It is advisable to apply early, as the first-year class fills up quickly and admission becomes increasingly competitive as the year goes on. Applications for Fall Terms are not accepted after April 30.
