Applying as a Former Student

Those who have previously attended Berea as degree-seeking students and who wish to return must apply for readmission. Applicants should be aware that readmission to the College is a highly competitive process and successful candidates are usually those students who left Berea College in good standing and, in many cases, for reasons beyond their control.

All others are encouraged to first attend another regionally accredited institution and present grades that demonstrate both seriousness of purpose and a promising level of academic achievement.

Please be aware that you will have to demonstrate your financial eligibility, even though you qualified previously. You must have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for this purpose. You may submit the FAFSA online.

A change in your financial situation since your previous enrollment impacts your eligibility. If you have questions, read “Admission Requirements” or contact the Admissions Office.

There may be some advantage to submitting an application early. Once your Application for Readmission and Scholarship has been received, a written confirmation of items needed to complete your file will be mailed to you.

To complete your readmit application, please submit the FAFSA. If you have attended another academic institution since you have attended Berea, please submit a transcript.
