Whenever there is a change of Adviser, the Adviser should deliver, or make arrangements to have academic program staff deliver, the advisee’s folder to the new Adviser. (The Office of Academic Services no longer asks that the advisee deliver the folder to the new adviser.) As in the past, if a change of Adviser occurs, any personal notes that are not available to anyone else should be removed from the advisee’s file folder before the folder is delivered to the new Adviser. If your personal notes remain in the advising folder, then such personal notes become part of the file and the advisee has the right to see them. [See "Record Keeping and Legal Matters" to follow.]
