Community Service
On Saturday, October 29, 2011, over 100 volunteers from across Berea’s campus and community gathered at the Berea Community Food Bank to take part in the 19th Annual Hunger Hurts Food Drive. Despite the cold, over 8,500 pounds of food was collected from Berea residents. CELTS would like to extend a special thank you to all the volunteers, groups, and people across campus who helped make this event a success.
The Berea Community Food Bank served more than 600 southern Madison County families last year and is sponsored by Berea Faith Community Outreach, Inc. (BFCO). Many individuals, churches, schools, businesses, and organizations contribute food or money throughout the year. Donations collected during the Food Drive will supply the pantry for the winter and provide food to many families during the holiday season.
