Jonathan Adams

Curatorial Associate, Artifacts and Exhibits Studio

Class: 2010

 

Jonathon Adams has been working in the Artifacts and Exhibits Studio since fall 2007. His job as a student curator and designer allows him to help create and manage exhibits both at the college and in the surrounding area. Jonathon enjoys being involved with the Appalachian Center and likes the creative aspects that his job provides.

Miranda Behn Robinson

Curatorial Associate, Artifacts and Exhibits Studio

Class: 2009

 

Miranda Behn Robinson has been working for the Artifacts and Exhibits Studio in the Appalachian Center since spring 2007. She is a junior history major and an Appalachian Studies minor. After graduating from Berea College she plans to go to graduate school to study film history in hopes of becoming a film historian. Miranda enjoys playing soccer, watching the English premiership soccer league, and coaching the youth of the Madison United Soccer Association. She hopes to one day be the first female coach of an English premier team.

Beth Bissmeyer

Editorial Associate, Appalachian Heritage

Class: 2009

 

Beth Bissmeyer, of Louisville, Kentucky, is an English major, with a minor in Appalachian Studies. She has been working with Appalachian Heritage since fall 2007. She serves as President of the new student organization Bereans for Appalachia and is also an active member of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth. While she is not quite sure what she will do after graduation, Beth hopes to attend graduate school and to, eventually, work for a nonprofit organization.

Samantha Cole

Student Editorial Assistant, Appalachian Heritage

Class: 2011

 

Samantha Cole is from Beattyville, Kentucky. January 2008 marks her first time working with Appalachian Heritage, something she hopes to continue throughout her college career. Samantha plans on pursuing a degree in Appalachian Studies before going on to pursue one of her many interests. Although she has yet to decide upon her post-graduation plans, she hopes to one day return to her home in the mountains to continue doing one of the things she loves best: writing.

Michael Cox

Student Research Assistant, Entrepreneurship for the Public Good

Class: 2010

 

Michael Cox is the student research assistant for the Entrepreneurship for the Public Good offices. He is responsible for assisting the chairs in the EPG department with projects and planning research. Michael is a political science major and German minor.

Patrick Crum

Departmental Associate, Appalachian Center

Class: 2010

 

Patrick Crum, of Buffalo Creek (Logan County), West Virginia, is a music major with an emphasis toward vocal music studies. He is responsible for assisting in the preparation, planning, and execution of events that are held or sponsored by the Appalachian Center. Patrick is very active within the music department, participating in the Concert Choir & Chamber Singers, Black Music Ensemble, and private voice and piano lessons. He also serves as a keyboardist and choir member at Berea Baptist Church and performs solo engagements at different churches upon request. Patrick hopes to attend graduate school in Sydney, Australia, upon the completion of his degree at Berea to pursue a dual masters in international business and international relations.

LeTisha Hemanes

Student Program Manager, Entrepreneurship for the Public Good

Class: 2009

 

LeTisha Hemanes is a senior sociology major who is also pursuing a women’s studies minor. She serves as the Student Program Manager for Entrepreneurship for the Public Good. LeTisha previously participated in the EPG summer program during 2006 and 2007. Originally from Atlanta, GA, she runs track for Berea College and currently holds the 100 meter and 200 meter Berea College records. After graduation, she plans on teaching high school and coaching track. Her goal is to eventually teach at the collegiate level.

Taryn Henning

Assistant, NEH Endowed Chair

Class: 2011

 

Taryn Henning is a fun-loving, free spirit who enjoys walks in the rain. She is very involved in the Student Government Association and the student-led Oxfam group on campus. Taryn plans on majoring in sociology and hopes to spend a few years working for non-governmental associations in foreign nations following graduation.

Stephanie Housh

Student Secretary, Brushy Fork Institute

Class: 2009

 

Stephanie Housh has been working as a student secretary for Brushy Fork since spring 2006. Following graduation, she looks forward to spending a few years working in the nursing field before seeking a master’s degree in physical therapy.

Cameron Ryals

Accounting Associate, Appalachian Center

Class: 2010

 

Cameron Ryals is from Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, and began working with the Appalachian Center in March 2008. He is a sophomore business major with an emphasis in accounting who enjoys working with numbers. After graduation he plans on becoming a CPA and moving to Hawaii. Cameron is a member of the golf team and also enjoys playing other sports, such as basketball and football.

Lane Sulfridge

Programming Assistant, Appalachian Center

Lane Sulfridge is a sophomore from Vincent, OH. He is a business administration major with an Appalachian Studies minor. Lane currently serves as Vice President of the Bereans for Appalachia student organization. His interests are Appalachia, the outdoors, and learning new things.

Rebecca Tucker

Student Secretary, Brushy Fork Institute

Class: 2009

 

Rebecca Tucker of Somerset, Kentucky, has been working with the Brushy Fork Institute since January 2007. While she views her secretarial work as only a small contribution, she enjoys being part of such a dynamic organization. As an economics major she hopes to one day apply her knowledge in the nonprofit world. When she's not busy with classes, she enjoys playing soccer, playing ultimate Frisbee, and having fun with friends.

Lance Turner

Departmental Assistant, Appalachian Center

Class: 2010

 

Lance Turner is from Perry County, Kentucky. A graduate of Buckhorn High School, Lance is a third year student at Berea College, and will graduate in 2010 with a history degree. One of his responsibilities in the Appalachian Center includes supervising the Faber Library and Appalachian Center Gallery during evenings to provide students with a comfortable space to meet and study.
