The mill team is a small, but powerful, component of the college farm’s infrastructure, supplying custom feed rations for all three livestock enterprises. Learning the process of grinding a ration requires skill, patience, and practice, and any student on the farm can receive instruction by expressing interest. Besides the experienced mill team, each livestock core team is encouraged to keep at least one member trained in the mill for emergency situations. A recent update to the mixing equipment has streamlined the grinding of rations, which include corn and soybeans grown on site, as well as purchased minerals and antibiotics.
